Should you choose to travel Westbound on this route, you'll first board your luxe train in Denver, where you’ll be immediately impressed by the custom-designed, glass-dome ceilings that give you panoramic views of the Mile High City. After the whistle blows, you’ll enjoy a three-course, regionally inspired lunch as your train journeys along the Colorado River. With your eyes peeled for pronghorns, deer and eagles, the darkness of Moffet Tunnel may surprise you — along with its 6.3-mile length — but it takes such measures to cross the Continental Divide. End the day with a relaxing evening in the historic town of Glenwood Springs.

The next day you’ll re-board your train and continue west past desert cliffs and sandstone mountains. It will be difficult to concentrate on your two-course hot breakfast as you gaze out at Parachute Creek, Mount Logan and the 15-mile De Beque Canyon, but the excellent meal will hold its own against the majestic scenery. Ruby Canyon, and its stunning red sandstone cliffs, will be a particular highlight as you leave Colorado and head into Utah, where the snow atop 12,726-foot Mount Peale will contrast vividly with the surrounding desert. Keep a lookout for Arches National Park as you approach Moab.
